Here is a cute 'just moved' card that I made for my recent move.

Halloween Cupcakes!

We all win

After a few weeks of poor Twix being tormented I think we have a solution that will keep everyone happy (for the most part).  In order to keep us happy and sleeping with out waking up to growling or snarling we moved a litter box into our bedroom and would keep Twix in with us for the night.  That was a fine temporary solution but didn't make it any better for Twix at other times of the day.  The poor girl was just terrified all the time!

To make her happy we now have the obstacle each time we use the stairs of a baby gate.  Twix gets the upstairs and Ben gets the downstairs.  Food and litter are in both locations.  You might say that a cat can jump a baby gate and in theory yes they can.  Although cats can jump that high they need something to land on at the peak of the jump and they don't hurdle things that large.  It has been 5 days and so far that theory holds true.

We had to be strategic with the placement of the gate.  We tried the top of the stairs because we didn't think Ben would fit through the rungs of the banister.  Reese and Twix can so they could come and go if they wanted but it would keep Ben away from Twix unless she dared to go downstairs.  Ben is a determined cat because we watched him squeeze and maneuver himself through the rungs.  It wasn't easy for him but he did it.  It's a good thing that the stairs are in an 'L' shape so the gate is now at that 'L'.  There aren't any rungs for anyone to fit through.

I did have a surprise yesterday though, Twix was downstairs!!  Since we don't need the baby gate for the safety of a child we have it pressure mounted.  The large post of the banister is decorative and not fully square so the top grip doesn't touch on 1 side.  Due to the shape of the gate on the side and the banister there is enough room for Twix to squeeze through.  It's no where near large enough for the other 2 to even think about getting through.  I guess we'll have to keep an eye on this because I guess Twix may still decide to tempt her fate on occasion :)

I take Reese up with me sometimes because it doesn't really matter where he is.  At night and when we are gone I make sure he is downstairs because he has a new favorite spot on top of the kitchen cabinets.  I don't allow my cats on the counter but will let that rule go as long as it is just the hop from the counter to the refrigerator to the cabinet.

Twix is more relaxed now, Reese really doesn't care and Ben is probably the most unhappy because he sits at the gate in the morning and meows because he can hear us upstairs.  Oh well, he'll get over it.  Besides, it's all his doing...if he would just leave her alone we wouldn't have to do this.

Who wins?

I don’t know what happened while we were at work yesterday but Ben all of a sudden decided he was going to lay down the law with Twix. For the past 2 ½ weeks Twix has kind of done her own thing and not paid any attention to Ben or Reese. This whole time Ben and Reese have been ‘working things out’…as much as Joe doesn’t want to admit it I think Reese has told Ben that he’s ruling the roost. Ben must have been taking good notes because he’s taken what Reese was doing to him and has started doing it to Twix.

We were finishing dinner and Ben and Twix were in the kitchen not even near each other. Ben started meowing at her so she started growling and hissing back. Twix started to walk out of the main kitchen area but had to go past Ben to do this so in making her long way around him she ended up getting herself backed into a corner. The meowing and hissing continued and Reese came in to rescue her…he really wouldn’t do that because they just tolerate each other but alas by him coming to investigate the commotion it distracted Ben enough that Twix could slip by. As soon as Ben realized she escaped to under the table he trotted after her and kept inching his way closer. They were just a few inches apart still meowing and hissing and just as I said she’s going to whack him she did. After that she started to retreat to her favorite hiding spot behind the couch but Ben continued to follow her. We lost sight of both of them and all of a sudden heard the brawl begin behind the couch. We quickly put an end to that. I’m sure Twix can hold her own but she’s so tiny, Ben is more than twice her size!

Joe thought Ben wouldn’t let them come in and take over his house but I don’t think Ben knew what to do with other cats. Reese is 11 and Twix is 9 and I’ve had them both since they were old enough to leave their mom. They’ve had a lot of years dealing with this sibling revelry. Joe isn’t sure how old Ben is but thinks he’s around 7 so he’s had a lot of years as on only cat. They’ll eventually get each other figured out!

Moving

Well, I am in the process of making the big move to Joe's.  My biggest worry was the cats and how Reese and Twix would get along with Ben.  It's been about 2 weeks and so far for cats I think it's been pretty good.  They are still figuring each other out but the hissing and growling has calmed down a lot.  Reese is actually starting to chase Ben on occasion so I'm not sure what's going on there.  I know one of the times Reese just wanted to play because he started chasing me after Ben cowered to him so we played and ran around for a while.  With 3 cats the vacuum will definitely be used a lot more!!

This is the first time moving a house...it's not fun.  I've actually done a pretty good job over the past few years of getting rid of things I really don't use or want but still there is a lot of stuff that you can fit into a 4 bedroom home!!  We still have a few projects to finish at my house before it goes on the market and hopefully that will all be done by the end of the month.  I will just be glad when all of the packing/unpacking is done.

Grandma's 90th BD favor

I made 50 of these as favors for my Grandma Henning's 90th birthday party. She loves cards and we all remember the Oatmeal cookies she made. I thought the Queen of hearts was the appropriate card to make :)
Thanks Laura for sending me your Sizzix Q since the letters I had were to big!

Not sure

I'm not really sure yet what this will turn into. It seems like so many people have blogs and I've found all kinds of creative things. I decided that I should create a blog so I can watch or follow (whatever it's called!) instead of having a ton of bookmarks. I am just wrapping up my latest project so I will post pictures when it's done. It's a party favor for my grandma's 90th birthday party.
